If you want an inground pool in your backyard, then you'll need to make some important decisions to make sure everything goes smoothly and that you end up with the right pool for you and your family that you will be happy with for many years to come. If you've never had a pool put in before, then you want to continue reading this article because it will cover important things you'll want and need to know.

Choose the location for the pool

The first thing you need to do is to choose the right place for the pool. Along with making sure it's in a part of the yard where you would prefer, you also want to choose a place where it won't cause problems in the future. The builder will check with the city before digging to make sure there aren't any concerns regarding where the pool will go, but knowing some things to look for ahead of time can prevent you from having your heart set on a location that won't work.

Make sure you don't choose a place under power lines. In order to put a pool in a location currently under power lines, you would need to have them rerouted at your own expense. You also want to find out where lines or pipes are in the yard because the ground can't be dug in those areas for the pool. Examples of lines or pipes that can be under the ground include water, power, gas, and sewer, to name a few.

You should have the pool put in a location you can see from the main windows in the back of the house. This makes it easier to keep an eye on things when people are in the pool, but it also ensures you have a nice view when looking outside, especially if you have had some special features added to the design of the pool, such as an elaborate waterfall.

Choose the design of the pool

You want to put plenty of thought into the design of your pool. Consider the size carefully. You want a pool large enough for you to really enjoy, but not so large that it prevents you from still enjoying your yard. Also, consider having features added to it, such as a built-in jacuzzi, a sitting area and table, a waterfall, or anything else that you feel would make you like your pool even more.
